The Tri-State’s biggest fireworks display wraps up a night of music, fun and patriotism. Julie Reeves of the No. 1 morning show in the Tri-State, “Julie Reeves Live” on The Dawg, 93.7 FM, will kick off the music (“Trouble Is A Woman” a Top 40 charter for Reeves while working in Nashville). Two up and coming country music stars follow Reeves, including Frankie Ballard (of “Helluva Life” and “Sunshine and Whiskey” fame) and Jon Pardi (with songs, “Up All Night” and “What I Can’t Put Down”), all at Harris Riverfront Park. Free tickets available at Dutch Miller Chevy - Kia - Hyundai, at area McDonald’s and at Kindred Communications, 555 Fifth Avenue in Huntington. There will be inflatables for the kids, dozens of food and drink vendors, face painting and your favorite people from 93.7 FM, The Dawg. Gates open at 5pm and general admission is only $5 with kids 12 and under free. There will be a Kid Zone with inflatables. Entertainment starts at 6pm! A temporary fair-ground is set up and offers a variety of amusements for the locals and visitors alike. ChiliFest 2014

ChiliFest is a charity cook-off event benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State. ChiliFest is the West Virginia State Chili Championship sanctioned by the International Chili Society. The winner of this "much heated" event qualifies to represent West Virginia at the ICS World's Chili Championship! Cooks come from far and wide to Downtown Huntington with their pots, spices, secret ingredients and chili lore for this spirited competition.

All chili sample tickets are $1 or six for $5.

Mary Smith McClain hopped a train alone as a tweener, went to the city, got famous and drilled diamonds in her teeth. She roared in the 1930s and '40s dancing and singing all over the world sharing the stage with Duke Ellington, Billie HOliday, Ray Charles, Fats Waller and Fats Domino!

Living in Florida, the minister's wife, in her 80s, traveled the world and again belting the blues from The White House and Chicago Blues Festival to Carnegie Hall, and Off Broadway and fests all over Europe before passing away in April of 2000 at the age of 97.

The C-K AutumnFest takes place the last weekend in October in the two quaint communities of Ceredo and Kenova. The centerpiece of the festival is the famous Pumpkin House, which has become one of the favorite tourist attractions of West Virginia, decorated with over 3,000 hand-carved pumpkins.
